Why learn Danish at work?
At VSKdansk, we work with companies, from both the private and public sectors to teach Danish to foreign employees and students. Our experience shows that if you want to thrive in Denmark, you need to speak, read and write in Danish. Therefore, Danish classes are important for attracting and retaining foreign workers, benefiting individuals, businesses, and municipalities.

Language mentor
A language mentor is a personal tutor who tailors the lessons to the student’s job situation. The mentor accompanies the student at work to map out the language needed to perform optimally in their role. We then create personalized teaching materials based on this assessment. The mentor teaches professional terminology as well as the phrases and speech acts the student encounters throughout the workday. This way, the student quickly gets into their work routines and understands and contributes to the workplace culture.

Danish classes at work
For many foreign employees, it can be difficult to combine Danish lessons with a new and busy work life. That is why we offer Danish lessons at the workplace. This saves employees time and ensures they get started on their lessons. The Danish Language Course is free if employees have lived in Denmark for less than five years. If they have been here longer and already know some Danish, they can learn Danish through the FVU program, which is also free. If the company does not have a suitable space for classes, they can be held at one of our language centers. For some job categories, companies can apply for compensation for lost work hours.
We plan the course in collaboration with the company and also help with applying for compensation for lost work hours, if desired and possible.
Danish for SOSU students
Many SOSU students lack Danish skills, and the dropout rate in SOSU programs is unfortunately high. Therefore, we offer a range of courses tailored to the SOSU field, aimed at keeping SOSU students in education and later in employment. SOSU Danish courses are customized programs that we develop in collaboration with our partners. These programs often include one or more of the following components:
- Group Danish lessons (The Danish Language Course or FVU)
- A language mentor program
- Focus on preparing unemployed individuals for education and/or work
We give advice on how to apply when relevant.
